This Home's for Me

Since the demise of Domino I have been on the search for new magazines to love. I have received Metropolitan Home two months in a row now and I must say I have been quite pleased. I absolutely fell head over heels for this home in the March issue. The home is owned by Kerry and Dan Finkel of Chicago. The fabulous design was done by Kara Mann Designs. I absolutely love how they made so many traditional pieces feel fresh and new. No stuffiness here. This all makes me quite happy.

  7. Oh, big fan of that bedroom! It is so beautiful without being at all stuffy or overdone. I haven't read metropolitan home for a while but I think you convince me to go back. I am relying on Living Etc. for my post domino era fix:)

  8. Just blog hopping and found your blog today... I'm a former interior designer in B'ham ("former" sounds funny- I guess I still am), now I'm a full-time mom. I'm sad about Domino too- I love the pics you posted. Love the gray, I've been debating on going gray in our bedroom for years!

  12. I'd take any room in that house, but I am particularly swooning over the library... Just have the luxury of such a space devoted to just relaxing or reading or whatever. That would be heavenly.

  16. ohohohooh, so pretty. What I love most is that it looks like a regular house, like I could buy a small home and really make some of these ideas happen. I love the outdoor fireplace, I was just trying to inspire such an idea to my husband. We like to find looser homes online and imagine how to make them great!

  17. Ugh, I have had a subscription to Met Home for years and years and years, but have just recently not renewed because it had become really predictable. Dang, and then they publish this beauty...love the simple drama of the dining room, the great outdoor space, and those incredible bookcases!

    You have a lovely blog!
