A Floor to Remember

While being the great real estate stalker I am, I came across this home and immediately recognized the floors.

They are the same floors from a past Cottage Living issue, March 2007 to be exact. This home office was a feature transformation of once editor Jessica Thuston's. Oh yes, I must really love you all to go back through my past issues just to find a date. Let me just say that's a lot of page flipping.

It seems the office is now a nursery. Not sure if she is still the current home owner, but it was still a treat to get a glimpse into this lovely home...

I then remembered this image from the Newlywed Diaries....

Looks like this could be the same dining room only staged for the magazine. What do you think? If so then I just might add that my home is open to staging for any magazine to use, just saying.

*Sorry for the small picture size, but they were too good not to share. That's what I get for ripping them off a real estate site. Blogger won't let me re-size them, boo. This also leads me to say, if any real estate agents would like to send me actual pics of fabulous homes that you know I would love then I will gladly accept them. It makes for a better post.

  8. So that's the issue I was re-reading over morning coffee-- it's March 2007. And that has GOT to still be her house-- there are CL stylings all over it. The sofa pillows are SO Fran Keenan, the curtains are Heather Chadduck's guest room fabric choice... I could to on, but I would make myself look like a huge dork. That is an awesome house.

  10. I think I could be really happy in that home.. maybe even not change a thing happy. Are those bed swings really popular in the south or something? Well, maybe I'm just assuming this home is in the south. My brother in law just MADE one of those. I'm open to my house being staged too! :)

  11. I loved Cottage Living too, and saved all the copies until they (sadly) folded. Good job digging all that up!!!

By the way, did you get the Banana Republic dress? I'm keeping my eyes open for coupons, since I really think it SHOULD be yours!

  17. It's so interesting to see how it's changed. I like the room more as an office, but you change it to be what you need, of course. And that kitchen is just stunning too. Some days I think if I could have a house with several incredible kitchens, all would be right in the world.

  19. Perfectly attainble beautiful work! Boy, do I love that painted floor and I had to do a double take at that LR/FR. It's almost identical to a room I did last year for someone!! I must've seen this photo and it stuck in my subconscious! Great post, Paula!

  20. yep, I've seen that painted bedroom cabinetry somewhere before in some story too. My office is getting staged Monday as a room in someone's house (which is definetley is not)...it's amazing how you can make one place look like something else in a photograph!

  24. That's too weird – that home office with the chevron floor is featured in a Southern Living Before and After special issue from this year. I think Southern Living is picking up where Cottage Living left off. Yay for them! No wonder Southern Living has become my new favorite for attainable, beautiful homes.

Thanks for sharing these – I was late to the Cottage Living bandwagon and missed some issues.

  30. Oh how I miss my Cottage Living magazine! You are so smart to recognize that was the same room... I do remember those floors, but don't know if I would have made the connection!

  31. I like those floors in the office photo. I hadn't seen them before. Not as crazy about them in the nursery shot; I'm not sure they work as well without the various other shapes and different kinds of visual interest that the office offers...

    Pretty, though!

  34. Ha! I would have done the same thing - go back frantically looking through all my Cottage Living magazines and would not have rested until I found it..! I love it all - that you a)stalk real estate sites; b)would go searching for the memory of a floor you saw on one of your magazines; and c)that you put it all nicely together for us readers on this lovely post. Perfect.
