A Fireplace

We finally figured out how to use our gas fireplace thanks to this lovely lady and her husband. We have used it a few times since, but have heard in order to keep it running the gas bill adds up quick. I rather like this idea of piling it up with wood. Very homey feeling and pretty.

  1. I LOVE an open fireplace, we had one in our old home. But I also do love the look of the stacks of wood. Perfect idea if your climate doesn't call for fires

  7. It looks great doesn't it. We have an open fire - so lovely on these chilly Feb days. There is a wood storage space underneath and the logs always look nice piled up. We mostly have our fires at the weekend when we are all home cosying up together and relaxing with a movie.

  8. I love to "decorate" with firewood...it's so utilitarian and primal to me. The colour is perfect of birch logs for white interiors.

  14. That IS pretty! I finally bought a screen and the tools for the fireplace last month. I've lived in my house for almost 3 years, and still haven't used it once! Today would be a perfect day to light it up. We're having a snowstorm here in Chicago. Brr...

  16. A fireplace is so cozy though. I love it when on - but can understand the gas bill pain.

  22. I can hear the crackling of the wood looking at that gorgeous fireplace. love it. glad to hear yours is working. I love to warm up my bedroom before bed with a good fire, sadly though, mine is gas.

  25. You probably won't believe me, but I woke up thinking about doing this to ours. Yes, I wake up thinking design/house junk, doesn't everybody?! :)

I'm just not 100% sure yet...so I was very happy to see this post!

  28. Love this idea! I totally want to do it - it'd be a lovely way to dry wood during the summer(and keep the cats out from trying to climb up and out the chimney...)
