If you have been reading my blog for awhile you know I have been going back and forth about painting my cabinets. Finally I am ready to take the plunge, but finding that perfect color has been harder than I have expected. My wall color although nice is an odd color and if you pair it with the wrong color it can look yellow which is something I don't want. Also painting my walls is out of the question, open floor plans makes for a lot of wall space. Anyway, I came across this gorgeous image on Lonny. The cabinets are painted Mouse's Back by Farrow and Ball. I was thinking of going lighter, but this has my wheels turning once again. I have finally succumbed to asking for help and Marianne is coming to my rescue to narrow down what I like for me. I am at the point where I just want someone to tell me what to do. I think she will be perfect.

A Mouse's Back
If you have been reading my blog for awhile you know I have been going back and forth about painting my cabinets. Ahh another absolutely beautiful kitchen. I'm sure if I had a lovely kitchen I would be more inspired to cook :)
ReplyDeleteThis colour looks great. And what a great name too!
ReplyDeleteOh, I wish Marianne could come help me! She has such a great eye.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this for your cabinets and think its so YOU, go for it!
ReplyDeleteGo for the painted cabinets - you wont regret it!!! I just did my masterbath in a highgloss white to match the trim - LOVE it...they were the honey oak, stock cabinets you see everywhere...they look totally different!
ReplyDeleteyay! it's going to look great! your baskets and backsplash will really pop.
ReplyDeleteHey Paula! That is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteDo you ever watch the show called "Sarah's house"? On the first season, she did a very beautiful kitchen. I thought she said she used two shades of gray (one for the upper and a slightly darker one for the bottom). In the picture, however, it doesn't look very gray. Anyway, I thought you might like it so I posted the link below.

While you are at it, check out the whole reno from that first season. It is really beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great kitchen! i think Mouse's Back is what Ann Turner Carroll's cabinets are painted. There was a great kitchen piece on her in cottage living.
ReplyDeleteIt will look great! Go for it.
ReplyDeleteit looks gorgeous! congrats on taking the plunge.

ReplyDeleteI love that color! Marianne will lead you in the right direction too.
ReplyDeleteThat kitchen is so gorgeous! I'm sure your cabinets would look great painted!
ReplyDeleteLOVE this kitchen. I think you should do it! have fun!!!
ReplyDeleteThis kitchen looks amazing! I love the soft greyish under tone...
ReplyDeleteI say, go for it!
i think its a great colour, but my fave part is the mirror splash backs. I'm a sucker for mirrored splash backs.
ReplyDeletewhat a gorgeous color!
ReplyDeleteI really like that color, I think it would look good.
ReplyDeleteIt will be fun! I don't think you will regret it. Have fun, Julie
ReplyDeleteloved this! actually thought of you and meant to make sure you'd seen it. I'm sure Marianne will come up with something perfect for you!
ReplyDeleteI love this look, great w/ the dark hardwoods. I think getting some help is good in these situations :). Otherwise you'll drive yourself crazy with options.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see it all done! I promise you will be so happy you did it!

yes, i have the same predicament about open floor plans which makes painting walls impossible. lovely color find for the cabinets! that kitchen is just lovely all around.
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a great color!
ReplyDeletedo it! do it! love this color
ReplyDeleteYes! I love seeing something out of the ordinary in a house...and i think this color would be great ( i have seen it used before in a living room) Very nice!!! Go for it! :) Heather
ReplyDeleteso excited to see how they turn out!!
ReplyDeleteWe have a gray kitchen and I have to confess that in all the decisions we had to make in designing and building our house, finding the right shade was the most challenging (and I drew the whole house, floor plan, all the elevations and made every selection!). I can certainly relate to wanting someone to just tell you what to do :) I do think you are in good hands and I can't wait to see what you come up with!
ReplyDeleteI think it would look great with your back splash and your appliances. With your taste and Marianne's taste combined it's a no fail situation. I say go for it and take lots of pictures for us :)
ReplyDeleteLove it and I have loved those cabinets for so long as well. Can't wait to see how yours turns out. That color is fabulous!
ReplyDeleteThis kitchen is gorgeous! Funny though - the colour looks more like Hardwick White which you had posted about before and I am now loving (know I said it was darker than your inspiration pic.)
ReplyDeleteFarrow and Ball has sample pots of all their colours so you can try them out first. I'm working with two clients right now to choose colours for their cabinets but it's a lot easier when you are choosing an off-white rather than a colour.
Have fun working with Marianne.
This color would be lovely, too. Picking paint colors is so difficult! Also, I just discovered that Sherwin Williams has Farrow and Ball's paint formulas in their system, so you don't need to have them match the swatch if you aren't planning to actually use Farrow and Ball paints.
ReplyDeletei love that color!
ReplyDeleteI hate mice but love the color of the cabinets. Its just perfect, great choice!
ReplyDeleteI am thinking of plans to decorate one of our spare bedrooms and am currently thinking along the lines of this colour - thank you introducing it to me. I am now off to investigate!
