Feeling Plain

While browsing my daily read, Simple Lovely, last week I came across this stunning image...

In my mind I feel as if I could be this power house of a women. Strutting along in fabulous heels and looking ever so chic, but when I stop a moment and realize I must sweep the floors for the 3rd time in one day and clean up the inevitable spilled milk all while having a two year old on my hip, I come to the quick realization that I am more this (add a few stains here and there)...

Oh, and I am okay with that.

I agree about the dress. However I love the more child-friendly outfit you've picked!

Oh, yes--she defintley looks like a powerhouse of a women. i am definitely much more likely to wear the outfit you put together to look casually chic:)

I understand what you're saying here, without the children of course! =)

both styles work for me - I'm a combo of the two

I would be okay with that too :)

i totally understand. It is crazy to me how much my 'style' has changed since becoming a mom. I still have it, but it is much more relaxed and built around comfort.

I love the outfit you built. The t-shirt looks like something I could live in. oh, and I love the aviator glasses. Very hip!

My husband always wonders WHY I generate so much laundry. On a weekend, I average about 3 different outfits, but if you add the thrown food blobs (as in, "mommy, I'm done!), the milky kisses (can't pass those up), and the dinner food blobs...how could I go through LESS outfits!

The outfit you picked is just as cool, and if you DID happen to get the dress, you could just wear it w/ flat sandals and I think that would look cute too.

Love the first style but the second is more practical!

I'm all over that second outfit (wish I could afford to splurge on a $74 soft gray T though!)... I'd love to have the first one hanging in my closet as an option though :-) Best of both worlds!

Oh, I am so with you. I loved this photo on Simple Lovely. I think I could take on the world in that beautiful outfit and in that setting. But I'm so more the t-shirt and sandels these days. =) Both can be simple and chic.

Yes, it's true. It's hard to look that fierce as a mom. But I like the second outfit too!

Maybe I am just a loser but for how awesome that dress & the woman wearing it seem to be - all I noticed is that she needs a slip. How posh can you be when you are lit from behind? Modesty is highly under rated.

Yea for comfy clothes!

granted your interpretation is more comfy, but it sure doesn't lack in chic accessories!

I love your interpretation! I hear what you're saying though, and sometimes find myself feeling the same way.

Substitute the two year old on the hip for two rambunctious Frenchies and that's pretty much me so your outfit would suit me too!

Gorgeous picture and dress! Your outfit you created is adorable and I bet you would look great no matter what!

that's more me too ... and i'm ok with it too! :)

I think we all have two sides to us. The uber chic side we aspire to be and the cas side that we love being. Digging the look you came up with!

Oh, me too... me too. I wish to dress ever so chic, but it's more t-shirts and shorts that fit my every day life!
