A Home to Buy

While being the real estate stalker I am, I came across this home. Not sure about the location, the school system is not the best, but the price is beyond right. Oh, and we would be close to this I believe and that would be lovely. It would need personalization, but I rather like all the major renovations that have been done. The front door would become yellow and the landscaping needs some extra care. I love the rounded door and what looks to be original hardwoods. I would probably change the light fixture to something more modern to play off the historical home. I am rather fond of the farmhouse sink, butcher block counters, and subway tile. I would change the appliances to all stainless steel though just because I could and possibly marble counters one day. To me it appears the loft space may have the second bath at the very end. I am thinking master suite. I would change the railing to something more substantial, maybe horizontal thick slats. What I like the most is the yard. I dream of having mature trees in the yard and this one fits the bill.

Overall I am thinking a drive by is in order. Also if any one would like to buy my current home for atleast what we paid in order for me to indulge in my new infatuation then I would greatly appreciate it. I would be sure to share the after photos if this helps in your decision making at all.

  6. Oh! sniffle sniffle...I want to live there too, especially because it would get me out of Ohio, also because I LovE hardwood flooring in any home.

  7. That is so adorable. With some new landscaping and gas lanterns that house would be good to go. I also love the Ikea vanity in the bath and of course the bb countertops! The neighbor's house looks nice also.

  8. I'd even add black shutters to the front to compliment your pretty yellow door. But, mediocre schools are a dealbreaker for me, unless you can go private.

  9. Such a charming home! It would be adorable with some of your personal touches. You know what's sad, though. Here's what jumped out at me...the GQ in that bath with ROB PATTINSON on the cover. I know, I'm a pathetic 14 year old. :)

  10. Very cute house! Not the best school system, I agree. Why can't we have these homes closer to the nice parts of town (with that price tag of course)

  11. That is such a cute place. It's quite nice that all of the major upgrades and work are already taken care of. If the school system isn't so great one could consider homeschooling their kids. Some communities have homeschool co-ops.

  12. it's such a bummer that some of the most charming houses and neighborhoods in town are in the least-desirable school districts! I can only imagine what this would be listed for if it were in Homewood -- probably close to double!

It is so cute though. Definitely worth a drive-by to check out the 'hood.

  14. if it's indeed near the dream center which is the place where i grew up....you would need to do as my mother did and homeschool or do private school...oh and buy a big dog...and be ready to be out of town over new years...or be prepared to listen to something very much like being in a warzone..but hey if you like that sort of thing the house is very cute :)...plus i came outta that area and i'm awesome :)! right? haha

  16. This house is lovely.but what is even more lovely is the way you have it all figured out on what's to be changed, transformed, kept, painted, what color ( I bet you even have the reference of the shade of yellow... ;0))

  28. Hi Paula,

This is actually my friend Arden's house-from Arden Photography. They own three houses on this street and it's a beautiful house and her husband did all the work himself. Very talented!!! It's in Roebuck right off of 1st Avenue North. You should definitely buy it!!!!
