The Illusion

The other night hubby and I had a date. We decided to head to the mall and just walk on the drizzly night. We ended up popping into Banana Republic and hubby found a few things to try one. Since I was sans kiddos I decided it would be fun to try on a few dresses. Well, I tried on this dress and fell head over heels. It is such an illusion. The banding around the waist makes mine appear smaller. The darts going down hides my "mama" bump. The darts going up gives me the illusion of having somewhat of a chest. Oh, and don't even get me started on the derriere. I am not one to spend a lot on a dress especially one that could not be used as an everyday dress, but I am wondering if adding a cardigan, belt, and tights could make it pass for a more casual look. As for now I am going to admire from a far, but if I am still drooling over the thought of this baby in a couple of weeks I just may need to go take the plunge, just maybe.

I think that something which is so flattering needs to be bought!! It is so hard to find really flattering stuff. Even if you will wear it rarely, it is a real wardrobe staple!

It's beautiful!! Banana has so many sales, maybe you can time it right? On the other hand, sometimes sizes sell out, so if you really love it I say go for it!!

I didn't notice the pattern until I looked on the Banana Republic website! It definitely looks quite versatile depending on the accessories you wear with it. I'm sure you'll be able to find some sort of discount on it!

That Banana dress is fantastic! I'm totally doing the math in my brain right now ($132 - 10% if I go on a Tuesday - $25 from that gift card I have...) That blue/teal/awesomeness is my favorite color.

You have such good taste.

Buy it!! It will prob go on sale soon, but they might not have your size then. If it makes you feel like a million bucks then go for it!

My boss taught me a cool trick...do a google search for: banana republic coupon code (or similar for almost anything you're considering buying) and you almost always get at least 10% off. Good luck, and happy shopping!

I think you must have it! There's nothing like putting on that dress that fits perfectly, feels divine, and is cut for a woman's figure -- it's beautiful, classic and versatile. Go for it :)
