A Cottage Kitchen
I posted this home when it was recently up for sale in my area. I was beyond excited when I started flipping through the March issue of Southern Living and found the same kitchen featured. The home is owned or was owned by the features editor Jessica Thuston. She really created a kitchen of my dreams. Yes, it's small, but I prefer small. Oh, and seeing another view of the dining room has me wanting a table just like that to paint. This issue is definitely worth picking up if you don't already have it. There hasn't been a day that has gone by that haven't picked up since receiving it in the mail.

Southern Living is really stepping it up. I now have one more thing to add to my grocery list!
I'm so tempted to paint my cherry cabinets white...but since we are trying to sell the house I will hold off...but my next kitchen will definitely look like this!!!
Oh, I can't wait for it to come! Every detail is perfect-- I mean, come on? Who has a tulip high chair? Uber-cool.
This kitchen is gorgeous! Love every single detail!
Have a nice day,
Federica.
You know you had me Paula on the first image alone!!
But I loved all the hidden bits and pieces and I have seen a similar idea somewhere just recently. I also reminded me of the cabinet we had in our hotel room last holiday which had everything very cleverly hidden away.
xx
Thanks for scanning this Paula, it's lovely. Flowers and colorful vintage pottery in an oh-so-pretty cottage kitchen...what could be better than that! And I love the painted dining table with those lucite and nickel IKEA chairs. What a sharp combo.
I loved seeing her kitchen in the new SL. It's great.
Just goes to show that bigger isn't always better. My eye is drawn to the beautiful curtain fabric and the wood freestanding piece - beautiful!
I love this kitchen. I didn't even notice it was small until you mentioned it. I love the scale on the counter too! Thanks for sharing gives me hope for my kitchen. Hmmm... if only I wasn't so afraid to paint my cabinets white. I will pick up the magazine this week. xo
The kitchen and dining room are just beautiful! I love the tall ceilings too.
I saw this in Southern Living and was in love. So dreamy!
I love it! I love small spaces for some reason.
Oh, that's beautiful! I really love how the floor makes it so warm, and the board ceiling adds charm.
I fall for most every kitchen I see, but this one is special. I need a scale like the one in the last photo, definitely. And that hood above the stove? One day...
Had a double take in the dining room, didn't expect to see the lucite there, but love that mix! great place!
My copy just came in the mail yesterday and the article on this house stopped me in my tracks. What a small world that this house is near you. I especially liked the pull-out pantry and cutting board. I've also been looking at a rug similar to the one she has in her dining room. Such a great kitchen!
I prefer small spaces also and just love this kitchen.
Sarah
I love how she stores/displays her dishes, instead of in cabinets.
I heart this kitchen.... have been spying scale in Anthro, like this one... super cool!
xx
I think I've looked at this kitchen everyday for the past week also. But I do love to compare the photo shoot images with everyday life images.
I LOVE THIS! that's my fav dining room back there, too ...
i want a kitchen full of flowers too
I dont get this magazine, but I must get to the bookstore and pick it up asap- love this kitchen!
Ah! I have that house in a file somewhere...or at least the painted floors, which I think were used as a nursery? I love painted floors, so always drawn to them...anyways...amazingly chic all the way!Now to figure where to pick up Southern Living in my tiny Northern town...
Love Love Love, Love Jessica too!
So fresh and cheerful!
So many pretty little details. I just found your blog. What a wonderful place you have created here!
Wow! The house is wonderful, the kitchen is so warm and cozy, and I love it.
It’s a lovely house no doubt that the magazine feature this house. It’s so simple and beautiful.
I know people love big kitchens with islands, but I prefer smaller galley style kitchens like this one. I think it's just so much easier to maneuver in, and you have everything at your fingertips. Perhaps it's because I lived in Manhattan for so many years, but I just find it efficient!
hi paula, i'm a new follower, i enjoy reading and looking at the wonderful photos on here! :) keep up the great work. like this post since my place is quite small too! anything to make the most out of the small spaces is a thumbs up for moi. :)
Oh so in love! Must pick up this issue of Southern Living.
Love this place! It's so warm and comforting :)
