Turning 30: An Inspiration Board

This month I turn 30. I am rather quite excited. I always thought 30 sounded so grown up so maybe just maybe this will be the year I finally feel like one. I am not one to have a party for myself although I love to throw one for others, but I thought this year should be different. This year I shall have a birthday party of my very own. I am going to have my close knit friends that I have known since college. Although I am thinking a backyard soiree I am also thinking everyone must dress up. A little glitz and glamor is always fun in my book. I am thinking a pretty dress and a grownup version of a crown. You know I love a pretty heel, but flats may be more practical in my yard. As for decor I am thinking a la sunday suppers, a few balloons, and a yummy cake topped with the most perfect bunting. For my gift my Mr. is painting our kitchen cabinets so to continue on with that theme I would love for every friend to bring their favorite recipe to add to a pretty recipe box that would take center stage in my lovely kitchen. Oh, and not to forget party favors, maybe a lovely linen flower from Emersonmade could be worn during and even after the party. A pretty touch I think it would add.

You are going to have the most fabulous 30th birthday. From the planning stages I can tell it's going to be beautiful. A backyard soiree sounds absolutely perfect! Especially with a touch of glitz and glam. x

I love being 30-- it does feel "grown up"-- and I think it just keeps getting better (but at 33, I don't know how I'll feel at 40! I love watching all your party ideas evolve!

Girl, you have got to get out of my head! I turn 30 in October and me and hubby have our 10 year anniversary, so celebrations are in order! I was planning to do an inspiration board too, so don't think I am copying when it happens. :)
HAPPY early BIRTHDAY princess!! It sounds like a fun one!

Oh sounds amazing. I used to be scared of 30, but not at 26 I think 30 sounds like a wonderful age. It sounds empowering, and like you've done something with your life. :)

I really love the idea of a backyard affair so everyone can dress up a little bit. :) Have fun!

Did you know that it is a proven fact that most woman are most beautiful @ the age of thirty...I swear I just read that somewhere:-)

Thos balloons are SO cute.

I am so inspired by that post--I love it! You better have that party! And my favorite quote about turning 30, from T. S. Eliot, "I spit on the grave of my '20s" Isn't that great? We become more of who we are supposed to be in our '30s...I am so much more comfortable in my skin now. It is great!

Enjoy!

Sounds like your birthday will be AMAZING! Simple touches with a bit of glitz for an outdoor summer party? How fun! I know what you mean about throwing yourself a party, I love throwing them for others but felt a little weird throwing one for myself on my 25th. Well, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

Here's another idea...what about asking all your readers for a recipe for your new recipe box as a b-day gift...I bet you'd get a lot of fun surprises!

I've been reading your blog for just over a year now and it's one of my favorites. I am also turning the big 3-0 this month, on the 22nd. I would have loved to have a "Garden Party" but it's way too hot in FL in August. My guests would melt. I opted for a cocktail party (indoors). I wanted to make
these invites
but of course anything to do with Martha takes a long time, so we just stuck with the simple cut-out martini glass. I'm on the search for a fun, glamorous cocktail dress. I hope I can find one in the next week! I hope you have a wonderful birthday party!
