A Local Mid Century Modern

Sometimes I think I have design ADD. I have a deep love for a cottage style home and featured them many times before, but every once in awhile I think I could do something completely different. I honestly think I could even do a mid century modern. This one is local and going for $450,000. What I love are the clean lines, the incredible space to entertain outdoors, the wall of glass, and of course the dressing room. Although I would like to decorate it like this, now that would make it gorgeous.

Do you know your style 100% or can you at times do something completely different?

Wow - I love this house!

Cottages, Victorian/Georgian Houses, and modern...I struggle to make my mind up. How amazing is that dressing room. Love it, love it, love it!

I LOVE the house. I would make it brighter though and decorate it in 'my scandi-style' ...

B'ham has some killer style! I think I know that this style is last on my list (with Spanish)...but I am sure that will change.

I, too, have a split decor personality - I live in a 1920's farmhouse but hanker for mid-century modern. There's one in town on the market by Philip Johnson decorated in Palm Springs chic!

It always changes, I think the next house I will do with a cottage style exterior, but I am also toying around a more contemporary exterior. It is really going to depend on the next lot...that we are already searching for.
Love the details, even all of the wood, the fact that it is not to dark keeps it light and airy.

I love so many styles and I am trying to narrow down the style that makes me the most happy.

I think I pretty much know my style ... I try to waiver now and then but always come crawling back to the same things! I can certainly see the appeal of this though -- definitely love all of the windows.

So cool! the house needs some more white though. This house is my hubby's dream so I could sway to this design, just like my style sways every day just about.

paula, i love a lot of different styles. i fall in love with so many different houses. but i think the common denominator is the flow. does it have good flow? hubby and i just spend 6 months redoing our first floor flow. and i'm now in love with a house that when we first saw it, we said 'oh god, no'.

I loooove this home!!!! I agree with you though and would lighten it up a but...too much wood tone for me.
My style varies but I have always loved mid-century modern with a few touches of other styles to keep things interesting!

I have a bad case of design ADD. Bad.

love this! It feels like a vacation... maybe because its so different from my own home.

So open feeling. Pretty find.

This is so different from my style but I love it just the same. Looks like a great spot for entertaining!

I would describe my style as bi-polar at best. I seriously love this house but I also really want a tiny cabin/cottage in the woods.

Joslyn said...

you know i think that's totally normal. I'm acutally pretty confident in my style, and I LOVE this house, yet I could totally (happily) live in a cottage.

wait...maybe i don't know my style ;-)

I love this house! Is there any chance you could post a link to where you originally found it? I want to read up on it. :)

Hmmm... is it wrong that I want to paint all that wood white? Probably. I love the light, though-- amazing.

I feel the same way! I would never in a million years think I would live in a house like this but I have already planned 3 parties by the pool in my head. And the possibilities are endless with the decor!!!

Bridget said...

YES. i love it.

and i am so with you. i want historical character but then i'll see a super modern even concrete home and completely change my mind.

i need to move to where you are. that house in my neck of the woods would be soooo much more than $450k. stupid massachusetts!!!!!!!

This is a local real estate listing so i don't give out any details. Better for the owners that way. If you are interested in it though I can get you in touch with the listing agent :) Thanks for understanding!

Found you via Seleta...

These mid-century houses are a spiritual experience for me. This one is such a beautiful specimen. :)

And, yes, totally multi-personalities when it comes to house styles.

Happy to find you!
