Summer's are always so busy for us and with my new endeavors it's only going to get busier. I hope to enjoy every minute of it even if my son is the fussiest I have ever seen him and eats more than a horse (oh yes, he's only two). Anyhow, back to the Artist's Way, it talked about how a negative experience in your creativity halt's you into doing nothing. I have experienced this recently if you can remember, if your new to my little blog then you too can check it out here (read the comments). For about 3 days I was completely heart broken to be honest and it took a little longer than that to completely get over it. I am one of those sensitive types, but after much prayer, hubby love, and all your encouragement I decided to jump back on the decorating horse. Oh, and don't worry I will not make that mistake twice.
We learn to do something by doing it. There is no other way.

I like your positive outlook!!
Good for you :)
Happy Monday,
xo Laura
I think everyone will always have something to say but you just have to keep doing what you love! I for one love your work :)
Paula- so glad you are back on the decorating horse! I hated, hated reading those comments a few months back. People can be so mean and it's so unnecessary. I think your bedroom looks great!
I have to deal with a difficult boss that halts my creativity daily- it's something that I pray about and I have to remind myself that I am competent in my work... and not to let him make me think that I'm not.
I was just starting to read your blog when your room was posted up on Apartment Therapy. I remember so impressed by both the fact that it was up and what you did with your room. The whole look of it is great and I totally love what you pull together on your design posts. I'm so glad that you are back on that horse and feeling great about it. You've got so much to offer in that department. Thanks for including us on your journey. It's inspiring!
Hi Paula,
I remember being stunned how rude people were. I was SO impressed you were able to do that yourself! I am glad you are back to decorating, I know it can be frustrating but that is how we learn!
Oh, Paula, thank you for this beautiful and honest post! Yes, I feel like I've been halted before. I had a really difficult time once with a person who had nearly copied my item and decided to sell them in the same spot as myself. I felt mad, hurt and disappointed and felt completely unoriginal. I wanted to just quit. But, then I recalled something someone had told me that each individual creates something original, no matter how it may resemble another's or another's work resembles yours. It kept me moving. It pushed me to try expanding and moving to the next step. I didn't quit, which, after a year, it feels like the best decision! I'm so proud of you!
Oh my goodness...I can NOT believe how unkind some of those comments were! I like the wallpaper myself. You opened up your home, and it was so mean of people to be so judgmental. Sure, there are always things we can improve upon...most rooms are a work in progress anyway.
You keep up the good work, and don't let anyone get you down!!!
my goodness is right! i am incredibly sensitive myself, and completely understand the pain that some of those comments must have caused you. glad to see that you're ready to push ahead-thinking of you!
I'm behind on the book club think but after going back to the beginning post about it, I am interested in picking that book up and following along. It looks like I have some catch up.
I totally get why the wallpaper thing may have discouraged you. It would have done the same to me. That is awesome that you even attempted in the first place. I know when I hung just three panels I thought I was going to go crazy.
BTW - I like that wallpaper that you chose.
Have a great week!
how amazing...i'm in an artist way book club, and we are having our graduation dinner celebration wed. evening!
sounds like you are in such a positive open space creatively...and i believe this is the most productive place to be!
Happy to hear you are back in action {and sorry that you were hurt}. I can't wait to see what comes next! Love the image today!
Paula, your room is absolutely beautiful. Love your style and they way you pulled all of it together. It's really hard to understand people's need to spread negativity. Hope it at least helps to enjoy the positive comments even more. Keep up your inspirational and creative work.
I am so glad that you are going to keep going with your passion!
I love your style. You are so brave to put yourself out there like that. It is true that we learn by doing even though it can sometimes be painful. I can't wait to see more of your endeavors.
Love your outlook - just caught up from the past week on your site... couldn't be more excited for what you have in store!
Hey girl, you can hang my wallpaper any day!
When I saw your room I would have never noticed the wallpaper issue.
Some people are so quick to share their opinions...too bad some failed "tact 101" in school. You are great at what you do! Keep it going! Love ya my friend!
I think I am a touch behind on the book... I'll have to check it out!
Isn't it funny how you get busy following your dream, the one the book sent you out in search of - and then life gets too busy to read the book? I think that is what has happened to me too!
So glad that you are going to jump back in! Thank you for the birthday wishes!
That's so wonderful--best wishes with your new endeavors. I have no doubt that you will be wildly successful!
Your style is fabulous! And I'm glad you decided to continue on. I know you will do well with your endeavors because you have the drive and a wonderful support network.
I think I usually pray and listen to the encouragement of others when I feel this way. It's the only way I seem to get through things.
There is no doubt in my mind that your interiors will look gorgeous! I mean seriously your Outfit to Room is fabulous and your bedroom design was beautiful! I can't wait to see what you do next!
