Yesterday I mentioned wanting to tile my back splash this year, well I also want to paint my maple cabinets to fit in with the rest of our home. My dear husband is still not on board with the idea, but maybe one day soon. This would be my inspiration...
{via Elements of Style}This color looks similar to my trim color, I would probably go a shade lighter though for my cabinets. I also love the brass, but I am not sure how long it will last in the design world. If I were to go for it, even though I probably wouldn't, then these would work nicely...
{via Rejuvenation}I am thinking a simple white subway tile with a darker grout. Currently we have Silestone counter tops in this urban cream I believe...
{via Silestone}A little more on the antique brass rather than shiny brass side would make me happy...

So dear husband if you happen to be reading then what do you think about painting the cabinets? You would not have to lift a finger, I promise.

Paula- too funny. I hope he will say yes!
I cross my fingers!
Happy 2010 darling!!!

I've got kitchens on my mind too!
Well, I'll encourage it. Our cabinets were primed--that's all-- before we moved in. And so they've sat for three years. Unfortunately, the previous owners did an awful, ugly tile job on the counters and backsplash-- dark grey granite everywhere. It's like a tomb in there... Good luck convincing the hubby.
I hope he says yes too! (And then convinces my husband to say yes too, because I would like the same thing done in my kitchen!). I love your inspirational photo.
Hope you get your wish! Goodluck!
How funny, I just recently saved that very image as inspiration. I want, badly, to paint my kitchen cabinets as well. My husband could probably care less either way...I just can't decide if I want to take on this monumental project. But man oh man, is that kitchen gorgeous! And the brass fixture...sublime.
fyi- we have white subway tiles in our basement bathroom, on the floor and virtually floor to ceiling on the walls. We used a dark chocolate brown grout and I couldn't be happier with it. Great at hiding dirt. Of course, I don't have any dirt in my household of four men, but if I did, dark grout is definitely the way to go! ;0)
I stopped and stared at this kitchen for quite some time yesterday too!!! I think its so YOU, go for it!
love this post. i might do the same..but i need help with our walk in closet. that kitchen is to dream for.
Good luck! It would be gorgeous! Perhaps the kitchen fairy could do some magic the next time your husband goes away for a few days! (Let me warn you though, this project gets a lot less fun as you're doing it. We painted ours and gave up halfway and hired a professional)
Do It!! You can have them done by this time next week! We did a grout in our bathroom with the subway tiles that matches Mega Greige which is our bathroom wall color and I think your trim color? Anyway I love it. I'll check back after I get home from Disney World next week to see the finished product!
Good luck! i have to always convince my husband to paint things too. I just did a post yesterday on my interior doors. Painting a new color...He actually didn't fight me on it. But he also does not have to lift a finger!
I love your inspiration and gorgeous hardware! I hope he says yes...take pics if he does!
oh brass...is it back? i want it to be back - it gets such a beautiful patina when used.
love this.
love it...do it! it's my personal goal to rid the world of stained wood--yuck. and brass is defintely back, as long as it's unlaquered.
Your inspiration room is lovely. But I think the lamp you chose is SO much better than the one in the room. I do hope your husband comes around and agrees to the changes -- it'd be so gorgeous.
Good luck! Beautiful inspiration! I'm totally on board with the brass..in small but effective doses! Hope he says yes :)
Hahaha I love this and wish you much luck my friend.
He needs to say YES!
I just blogged about painting kitchen cabinets today. I did in my mom's home. It wasn't as horrible as I thought it would be and I did all the right steps like priming and sanding between every coat.
The majority of the paint was done from Tues morning till thursday evening. We painted the inside of the cabinet doors once they were hung.
Do it!
Good luck - lately I agree that painted kitchens are very neat. I love the color and the idea of the antique brass. Can't wait to see if you get your wish! Painting cabinets is not hard - I have done it several times.
am currently painting my cabinets gray and will be putting on brass hardware :) so I say, YES!
Dear Husband, please let her make these changes...I promise it will look amazing just like she promises :)
You are too! Cute I sure hope he is reading:) Love the sleek hardware.
He-he! I love this. I hope it works better than it worked for me! I think my hubby saw right through me when I said he wouldn't have to do a thing... :) Still waiting though!
paint paint paint!!!
Do it! Painting cabinets can so change the look of your kitchen!
love the changes you want to make!
Haha! I need to write a letter like this to my hubby:)
I drool over that kitchen. The brass pulls really make it. And that Arteriors pendant is gorgeous!! Very close to the one in the image above. I'm been looking for a simple pendant like that for a client. Thank you for sharing! xoRH
I'm sure you've mentioned to your hubby that Brooke can help you install the tile...she did a great job on her backsplash...and I know she was sincere in her offer to help! I'm betting that in time your hubby will come around to agreeing with the idea :)
I have saved this image, also! I adore this kitchen from top to bottom! It's perfection...
xo, Sarah
I love that kitchen and I am loving those pulls lately. Everything changes so quickly, I am having the hardest time keeping up. Thank goodness for blogs
I snagged this same picture from Elements of Style to show my husband for our bathroom. I think I have him convinced to paint the cabinets. I'll cross my fingers that it will work out for both of us!
