A Victorian Cottage

Style at Home editor Erin McLaughlin made this gorgeous cottage into her own after a gut renovation. Although I shy away from bold colors I love how her pieces look in otherwise neutral spaces. I would welcome the sofa with open arms. The use of art adds such a personal touch that I just adore. Most people would have used the kitchen nook as a place to dine, but I love how she made it an area to relax. We currently did this in our own home and it works perfectly for us. Well, I am sure I could use the word "love" again and again for this space so I will just stop while I am ahead.

What a beautiful place!

I really enjoy the restraint and combination of elements, textures and colors. The lucite against the bold couch is my favorite above all, I believe. What a statement -- and can be enjoyed double thanks to that stunning large mirror...this is going straight to the inspiration files.

Thanks for sharing, lovely lady :)

What a gorgeous blue couch! Is that lavender on the table too? Isn't it great how she has the sitting area at the end of the lounge, very sweet

That huge mirror in the second picture is amazing, and the painting above the bed is beautiful.

The kitchen nook is really perfect! We had one in our last apartment and I used it all of the time (much more than I used the kitchen itself for actual cooking)

Neat idea about the kitchen area. I thought of either changing my dining room into a sitting room, or using my eat in kitchen as a sitting area, but I've been up in the air. Thanks for the inspiration.

What lovely ideas throughout the house. I just about have room for a sofa in our kitchen but have not taken the plunge yet - do you recommend it? Lovely art work and careful use of colours too.

I want that sink. I want that sink. I want that sink! Oh dear, that sounded terribly greedy, huh? But it's oh-so-pretty. And I love those low shelves.

Lovely home with many great ideas. Thanks for sharing. We just bought a cabin and plan to make the breakfast nook area a sitting area instead. So much more useful.
